Fifth poem of a soul to the Sacred and Blessed Heart of Jesus
You expired, my Jesus, on the height of the Cross
and surrendered Your Spirit into the Hands of God.
Today, faced with Your Merciful Presence,
I surrender all my life, my soul, and my will to You,
so that according to Your Principles of Love and of Light,
You may project into this small life
the sacred treasures of Paradise.
My Jesus,
make me always small and similar,
as You did with John, the Apostle and Prophet,
so that I may be able to know the greatness
of Your Mercy and Your Pity.
Empty me completely within,
so that someday I may yield to Your designs
with total openness and unconditional surrender.
Do not let me, Lord, fall into temptation.
Free me from assaults,
free me from illusions.
Ignite in my soul
the Sacred Fire of the Holy Spirit.
For in this way I will have You be known to the world,
in the same way that You, my Spouse,
have let Yourself be known
with all Your celestial mysteries
to my very tiny heart.
Help me, beloved Jesus,
to recognize Your Will
even in the smallest details.
Do not cease to guide me
and bless me in each moment.
Erase from my memory all the mistakes
and fears of failure.
May I avail myself, Lord, of your eternal Trust,
so that one day I may be worthy
of witnessing Your Second Return.
